The atmosphere you can breathe on the northern lakes in Italy is simply unique, to the point that Robert and Aisling have arrived from Ireland, where they live, to get married right here, in the wonderful framework of the eighteenth-century Villa del Balbianello, on Lenno’s shore.
Built on a small peninsula that leans out on the lake, the villa is embraced by cypresses, flowers and by the blue of the lake: a place with the taste of a fable. Robert, of Polish origin, and Aisling, of Irish, have given me complete trust by approaching me from Ireland and wanting me at all costs as their wedding photographer on the Lake of Como. I hope I’ve been to the height of their enthusiasm, and I hope I’ve managed to capture the images of this unique day through my shots.
The spouses changed themselves in a hotel in Tremezzo, Aisling surrounded by acts of kindness of her daughters, who helped her get prepared. She has appeared with a cascade of natural hair loose on her shoulders, a long and candid dress, and a bright smile. We then headed to the Villa, where the ceremony took place in the garden, and continued with the wedding reception. The guests were about thirty, carefully chosen between family and close friends, to enjoy the delight of the moment and to give priority to the affections. The park of Villa del Balbianello overlooks the lake and from there you can admire the whole splendour of the place: a position that makes it an exceptional location for an occasion like this . Since years, I live on the Lake of Como and as a wedding photographer I’ve worked a lot in these areas, but nevertheless, I’m always taken by the special charm of this landscape, by the sweetness and vividness of its particular light, that in the evening is refracted in silver sparkles on the water, plunging everything into a quiet beauty, as if suspended in time. An atmosphere of serenity and intimacy in perfect harmony with the spirit chosen by Robert and Aisling for their ceremony, sophisticated and collected at the same time. A wedding in the name of intimacy and elegance, two characteristics that are usually difficult to find together, but that Robert and Aisling managed to combine without effort. I think this is all represented in the shots with which I accompanied them throughout the day, giving Robert and Aisling my personal vision of gestures, emotions and moments, an opportunity that, as a wedding photographer active in such an attractive context like Como and its wonderful lake, I often have the pleasure of having. I hope they’re satisfied and I hope you can feel the warmth of the affections, the great complicity between the spouses, the serenity and joy, evident in everyone’s smiles.
